Soho Road to the Punjab
SCOTTISH PREMIERE
From Soho Road to the Punjab tells the fresh and exciting story of UK Bhangra. For the first time personal photo albums, scrapbooks, record collections, recording studios and wardrobes are being presented to the public. The show's Bhangra Champions include maestro Kally from Alaap radio, pioneer and writer Kash Sahota, remix legend San-J Sanj and club/pirate DJ "Boy" Chana. The show’s archive contains their "behind the scenes" snapshots of landmark Bhangra gigs, tours, "daytimers", awards ceremonies and melas.
Dimension & Expression
Sushil Mangaonkar
In Indian classical dance, the hand gestures or 'Mudras' constitute a mode of conveying the 'sentiment' as well as the narrative. Sushil has chosen to accentuate the traditional role of the 'Mudras' by interpreting them in his own way using non-traditional mediums such as screen-printing. Sushil Mangaonkar is based in Edinburgh and has exhibited his work in UK, Malaysia and India.
Art Masala: a spicy blend of art from India
A collection of contemporary paintings from independent artists around India. Featuring Rajasthani artists Sharmila Rathor, Durshit Bhasker and Lokesh Soni alongside Masi Sekar and S Kuppu from Tamil Nadu. This collection is brought to you by Natalie & Jonny of Gecko Gallery who promote talented Asian artists in Scotland.
