In 2013 the Kidzone, supported once again by sponsors Forestry Commission Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage, inspired the Mela’s younger audience to Go Wild by encouraging them to become explorers and enjoy a multi-sensory journey through four different environments: Forests, Farms, Hills & Mountains and Shore. A diverse programme of interactive nature-inspired creative arts workshops, celebrating the Go Wild theme, were delivered by visual artists, craftspeople, dancers, musicians and storytellers. Environmental educators and wildlife experts were on-hand to help our young explorers find out about the Scottish countryside and learn about ways in which our natural environment is managed and how it sustains the people, plants and animals within it.
Our Storytelling Longboat, staffed by a crew of tall tale-telling Vikings, dropped anchor in the Kidzone for stories that span the seven seas. Kids love the Mela: why not enjoy it with them, by taking a look at our photo gallery from the past few years?
